Mr Kwakye failed to secure the required number of votes for his confirmation in the previous five meeting of the Assembly.
Mr Kwakye secured 33 votes out of the 39 votes cast, representing 82.62 per cent.
In Mr Kwakye’s acceptance speech, he expressed his gratitude to the President for his nomination for the position and thanked the assembly members for confirming him.
He assured them of his readiness to cooperate with the assembly members to help develop the area for the achievement of the better Ghana Agenda.
Ms Mavis Ama Frempong, Deputy Eastern Regional Minister commended the assembly members for finally making a decision that would be of great help for the people.
Ms Frempong told the members that their delay in the confirmation of the DCE had delayed the development of the area.
She pleaded with the assembly members to avoid partisanship and work together as a team for a better result.
The Deputy Minister cautioned the newly confirmed DCE against favouritism and asked him to work selflessly with the assembly members.
The Regional Minister Designate, Mr Antwi Bosiako Sekyere commended the Birim South Assembly for making a final decision.
