Kodie (Ash), April 17, GNA – Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, the Chairman of the Afigya-Kwabre South Constituency of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has called on members of the District Assembly and political party leaders to unite to speed up development of the area.
He said they should work in close partnership with their chiefs, opinion leaders and other key stakeholders to initiate and implement practical measures that would improve the living conditions of the people.
Speaking at a ceremony to interact with members of the Afigya-Kwabre South District Assembly and the NPP Polling Station coordinators at Kodie, Odeneho Appiah said unity was crucial in promoting the speedy development of the District.
He said development was a shared responsibility and there was the need for Assembly members, party coordinators, chiefs and other opinion leaders in the communities to work together to find solutions to the numerous challenges facing their people.
Odeneho Appiah spoke against Assembly members and local party leaders teaming up with their people to engage in acts of indiscipline, lawlessness and public demonstrations that led to destruction of state property.
He advised them to desist from such acts and use laid down procedures to resolve grievances in their communities.
Odeneho Appiah told the leaders that people were looking up to them to offer leadership to help transform their lives for the better.
Mr Christian Adu Poku, the District Chief Executive, said a number of road networks in the District had been awarded on contract for rehabilitation.
He stressed the need for the Assembly and party coordinators to create awareness on the development projects in the District to enable the people to appreciate government’s efforts to improve on their living conditions.
