Accra, Sept. 5, GNA - A 39-year-old trader, accused of sexually molesting a six year old girl, has appeared before an Accra Circuit Court.
David Akwasi Adjei is said to have lured the victim to a drinking spot and inserted his finger into the victim’s vagina.
Soon after the act, Adjei allegedly bought the victim some rice and warned her not tell anyone.
Adjei, charged with indecent assault, has pleaded not guilty.
The court presided over by Mrs Abena Oppong Adjin Doku admitted Adjei to bail in the sum of GH¢8,000 with two sureties.
He is expected to reappear on October 10.
Prosecuting Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Agnes Boafo said the complainant is the victim’s father and that both the complainant and the victim reside at Okponglo in Accra.
ASP Boafo said Adjei resides in the same vicinity.
He said on August 28, this year, at about 1000 hours, Adjei lured the victim to a drinking spot within the vicinity and inserted his finger into the victim’s vagina.
ASP Boafo said later in the evening, the victim however informed her father when he returned from work.
Prosecution said the complainant apprehended the accused and sent him to the Domestic Violence and Victim’s Support Unit at Airport where a medical form was issued to the victim for medical examination.
According to prosecution the accused person in his caution statement admitted the offence.
