Accra, May 30, GNA – A student, Mohammed Ali, was on Friday arraigned at an Accra Court for robbery.
Mohammed was alleged to have robbed one, Nii Annan of his personal effects running into thousands of cedis, and an amount of GH¢3,120.00.
The facts of the case as presented by Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Moses Atimbilla were that, the complainant Nii Annan is a businessman residing at community 14, Lashibi, whilst the accused Mohammed is 23 years and alleged to be a student residing at Sakumono TDC Plot.
He said on May 26 at about 0145 hours, when the complainant and others were asleep, two young men wearing masks and a pair of black socks on their hands holding a kitchen knife and a gun, took them hostage.
The prosecution said the two armed men started beating them and ordered them to lie in a prone position.
He said the robbers ransacked their rooms and made away with the electronic equipment and a suitcase full of cloths and an amount of GH¢3,120.00.
ACP Atibilla said the victims later called the police patrol team which quickly rushed to the scene, immediately after the robbers had fled the scene.
He said the patrol team in combing the area arrested Mohammed and when he was searched, one pair of black socks was found in his pocket, the complainant later identified him as one of the robbers.
