Assin-Fosu (C/R), Feb. 20, GNA - The Assin Fosu District Court on Monday remanded a 33-year-old man into police custody for allegedly burning the feet of his seven-year old son for eating stew meant for the family of seven.
The suspect Edward Boafo, was angered by the action of the boy, a kindergarten pupil, who has denied eating the stew upon questioning.
Boafo pleaded guilty to the charge of causing harm and would appear in court again on Tuesday, March 19, 2019.
Prosecuting, Police Inspector Gilbert Ayongo told the Court Presided over by Mr Samuel Djanie Kotey that on Thursday, February 14, 2019, the suspect returned from the farm only to realize that a family stew he had prepared for the day had been eaten.
He said the accused suspected his seven year old son but the boy denied it, Boafo then held and hanged the boy’s legs on fire to force the boy to confess but to no avail.
The prosecution said at school the following day, the victim's teacher noticed that he was limping and questioned him.
He said the boy then narrated his ordeal to the teacher who in turn informed the Social Welfare Department where the incident was reported to the Police, leading to the arrest of the suspect.GNA
