Tarkwa (W/R), December 6, GNA – A Tarkwa Circuit court has granted bail to a 27 year-old Nigerian in the sum of 110,000 Ghana cedis, with two sureties for allegedly robbery a Ghanaian gold buyer.
The accused person, Samuel Ifeani Ekere, pleaded not guilty and would re-appear before the court on Thursday December 14.
Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Faustina Celestina Anaman, told the court, the complainant, Festus Nuamah reside at Wasa Adamanso while the accused who claimed to be a businessman and trade in used mobile phones, has no permanent place of residence.
According to Inspector Anaman, on October 15 this year, at about 01:30 hours, whilst the complainant and a witness in this case were asleep, Ekere together with four other suspects on the run, broke into his room and threatened Nuamah with a gun and asked him surrender all his gold and money.
She said the accused and his accomplices succeeded in stealing an amount of 4,800 cedis, a quantity of raw gold valued at 100,000 cedis, one iPhone 5x plus valued at 2,000 cedis and one iPhone 7x iCloud also valued at 3,200 cedis.
Chief Inspector Anama said, on October 16 the complainant spotted the accused person and his accomplices at Wasa Bawdie and logged a formal complainant to the police.
The Prosecution said the police managed to get hold of Ekere, but the other four suspects escaped.
