Tarkwa (W/R), Nov. 01, GNA - A 35 year-old farmer, Kwabina Mohammed, has been remanded into prison custody for allegedly defiling a six year-old girl.
Mohammed pleaded not guilty to the charge of defilement when he appeared before a Tarkwa Circuit Court, presided over by Mr. Emmanuel Bart-Plange Brew.
The accused person is to re-appear on November 14.
Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Faustina Celestina Anaman told the Court that the victim lived with her father, in a farm cottage at Wasa Asikuma, while the accused lived at Wasa Asikuma town in Wasa Akropong.
On October 1, at about 0700 hours, Chief Inspector Anaman said the victim's parents left her and two of her siblings in the house and left for the farm.
She said when they returned, the victim informed the father that Mohammed came to the house whilst they were away and asked for water.
The victim claimed after giving him the water, he lured her to a nearby cocoa farm and sexually assaulted her, after which he offered her 50 pesewas.
The victim's parents after listening to their daughter combed the area to get hold of the accused person, but they did not find him.
Chief Inspector Anaman said the girl's father reported the case to the Wasa Akropong Police and a medical form was issued to the victim to seek medical attention.
The Prosecutor said in the early hours of October 3, while the victim and her father were in Wasa Asikuma town, they met Mohammed and she identified him to the father as the one who came to their house and had sex with her.
The Prosecutor said the victim's father arrested the accused and dragged him to the Wasa Akropong Police Station, who processed him for court
