Accra, Oct, 05, GNA – An Accra Circuit Court on Monday remanded Solomon Klutse, Sprayer into police custody for conspiracy to commit crime, possession of fire arm and ammunition and attempt to commit crime to wit robbery.
The accused person, who pleaded not guilty, would reappear in court on October 14.
Prosecuting Chief Inspector K. Adu told the court that the complainant in the case was a Forex Bureau operator who lives at Kasoa.
He said on September 15, 2017 at about 15:00 hours, the complainant was at work together with his brother and a cashier.
He said the accused person’s accomplice by name Junior visited the bureau and requested for CFA note for him to exchange with GH¢50.00 note.
He said the complainant told him that there was no CFA and he left but within some few minutes later, he came back with the accused person holding two locally manufacturing pistols and took the attendant hostage.
The Prosecution said the accused person stood at the entrance of the door way with a weapon at hand and his accomplice entered and fired warning shots twice at the complainant.
He said the complainant sustained gunshot wound but gathered courage and grabbed the accused person and in the process accused person fired at the complainant’s brother but misfired.
“The complainant’s brother held Junior, whilst the complainant struggled with the accused person,” he added.
Chief Inspector Adu said Junior’s weapon fell and the complainant’s brother got hold of it and managed to escort him and the accused person outside.
In the process, the accused person spoke to Junior in Hausa language, urging him to go for the motorbike, they brought, so he could use it to hit the complainant and in the process they could escape.
He said their plan did not work, as the complainant called for help and Junior sensing danger escape with the motorbike. Whilst all this was going on the Achimota Mile 7 District Commander received a call and dispatched his men to the scene.
He said the Police met the accused person on the ground helpless whilst a crowd gathered trying to lynch him but he was rescued and rushed to the Police Hospital and was admitted, together with the complainant.
The two pistol and four live cartridges were recovered.
On September 18, accused person was discharged and he took the Police to the robbery scene, where two crash helmets and a handbag were found on the customer seat, which were left behind by the accused persons.
The accused person admitted the offence in his caution statement.
