Nkwanta (V/R), Sept. 6, GNA - World Vision Ghana (WVG), a non-governmental organisation, has commission a mechanised borehole and a four-seater KVIP latrine for Dompa Primary school in Kadjebi, Volta Region.
The WVG initiative dubbed Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) program is targeted providing basic social amenities to help foster the improve wellbeing of children and people living in deprived communities across the country.
The District Chief Executive of Kadjebi, Mr. Maxwell Kofi Asiedu, in his address at a mini durbar, appreciated the works of WVG in his municipality as he urged the people of the community to take good care of the facility.
“I would want to thank WVG for this facilities and this shows their concern of people especially children well-being. It's very important we take care of this facilities to sustain it longevity,'' he said.
He further reiterated that, the District Assembly cannot foster development alone, but, it takes this kind of partnership with WVG to ensure the general improvement of standard of living.
Mrs Salomey Yeboah, Cluster Manager of WVG WASH projects in Nkwanta, stressed the need to ensure smooth learning process of general without any interruption as many of the children often go home to drink and ease themselves at home before coming back to school which according to doesn't fall in order.
“The WASH program remains a very significant module for WVG, and we need to ensure the improvement of the sanitation problem in our school as well ensure a smooth learning process among people,” she said.
She called for the Girl Child education be promoted, in the community since parents often pressurize the very young ladies to marry at a younger age, which puts them out of the classroom and certainly does not fall in order.
Mr John Loku, Acting Headmaster of the school, commended WVG and said the initiative would enhance teaching at the school.
He appealed to other benevolent organisations and individuals to support the school with learning materials to enhance effective learning.
