Effiduase (Ash), Feb 18, GNA - Dr Nana Ayew Afriyie, the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Sekyere East Constituency, has donated medical equipment to public health facilities in the constituency, to boost critical health care delivery.
The items, including autoclave machines, oxygen plants, a set of beds and chairs as well as refrigerators are to be distributed to all public health facilities, especially those in underserved communities.
Handing over the items to the District Directorate of Health Service, the MP said the donation formed part of a health support scheme under his jurisdiction to demonstrate his commitment to better health care services to the people living in Sekyere East.
Dr Afriyie said aligned to this, one midwife has been selected from the district to partake in a nationwide training workshop for the handling and usage of an ultra-modern scan machine, ahead of its procurement into the country very soon.
Added to this, the central government would by the end of May, also provide a brand-new pick-up vehicle to the Directorate to boost its operations.
Dr Afriyie commended the staff and officials of the directorate for their dedication to health care delivery in the area and urged them to sustain it.
Madam Mary Boatemaa Marfo, the District Chief Executive (DCE), commended the MP for the gesture and pledged the Assembly’s continuous support to help improve and sustain quality health care delivery.
She encouraged the staff to collaborate with the community members in the course of their work to help promote development.
Mr Justice Ofori Amoah, the District Health Director, also commended the MP for the support, which had come at an opportune time to meet the needs of the health directorate and people in the area.
He pledged the continuous dedication of service from his leadership, staff and called on all stakeholders to support the course of health care delivery in the district.
Relatedly, the District Director’s Bungalow, which had been renovated under the auspices of the MP, was also inaugurated.
