Accra, Dec. 30, GNA - The Samuel Amo Tobbin Foundation, formally the Tobinco Foundation has donated bags of rice and cash to widows and the aged in their homes as their way of celebrating the Christmas festivity with them.
The Foundation donated these items in collaboration with Hunger Noe Be Joke (HNBJ) Incorporated, a non-governmental organisation that supports the poor and needy.
The items were donated to widows in Accra and the aged who are bedridden or homebound in their various homes.
Mrs Millicent Akoto, Executive Director of the SA Tobbin Foundation speaking to the GNA in an interview said the step was taken because even though the Foundation shares items to more than 300 widows and widowers and aged across the region and beyond, these homebound aged are not able to benefit from it because they can’t walk.
“Sometimes their proxies come to take them on their behalf but do not take the items to them. Therefore we thought it right to deliver the items personally to them in their various homes,” she said.
The ages of the homebound beneficiaries that were visited ranges from 80 to 120.
The beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the Foundations and wished them enormous progress to enable them offer them more help.
