Sunyani, Mar. 21, GNA - A-13 member reconstituted Advisory Committee for the Sunyani Regional Hospital (SRH) was on Thursday inaugurated, with a call on members to help furnish the facility with modern medical devices and equipment to elevate it to a teaching hospital status.
Dr Kofi Issah, the Brong-Ahafo Regional Director of Health who made the call noted that enormous task had been placed on the Hospital, now that Brong-Ahafo had been carved into three regions.
The committee comprised of traditional rulers, religious leaders and hospital staff and has been tasked to give advice to the Hospital’s Management for effective administration and members would work in accordance with a draft document.
Dr Issah who took the Committee through the oath of office and secrecy said as the major referral facility in the region, the Hospital required effective collaboration among all stakeholders to provide quality healthcare delivery services to the people.
He expressed the hope that the Committee would render selfless services to make the Hospital one of the best in the country.
Dr Emmanuel Kofi Amponsah, the Medical Director of the Hospital expressed concern over daunting financial challenges the facility was going through and appealed to wealthy citizens of Bono and Ahafo, home and abroad to come to their aid.
He admitted the dented public image of the Hospital was a great worry to Management and it would soon establish a Public Relations Directorate to help restore its image.
Assistant Commissioner of Immigration Charles Yaw Bediako, the Brong-Ahafo Regional Commander of the Ghana Immigration Service who presided, advised the Committee to guard against partisan politics in the course of their work.
Reverend Dr. William Ofosu-Addo, the Chairperson of Brong-Ahafo Presbytery, Presbyterian Church of Ghana is the Chair of the Committee.
