Accra, Aug. 5, GNA - Nestlé Ghana Limited, the leading health and nutrition Company, on Saturday held the second edition of its annual wellness session for consumers with a call on corporate bodies to ensure strong psychological health of workers.
The wellness session is carved from the ‘Nestlé Nutritionline’, which has been running on air for the past 18 years with a focus on educating the public on healthy living.
The second edition was held on the theme: “Wellbeing, a 360 Approach”.
Madam Masha Boi Bashiru, a Clinical and Health Psychologist at the La General Hospital who made the call said, in the era of competition, where a lot of efforts were being demanded from staff, stress was inevitable since every worker, desiring to fulfil the demands, stood a higher risk of being stressed.
She said it was incumbent therefore on managers to encourage workers to seek the services of clinical psychologists or invite the professionals to diagnose staff and help them to stay healthy out of stress and to increase productivity.
She said stress when allowed to develop, had the tendency to reduce productivity, breaks relationships because the stressed individual is unable to bond with people and that could even lead to the development of sexual problems.
Madam Boi Bashiru however, urged the public to constantly make personal efforts to deal adequately with stress in the form embracing friends and loved ones around you, taking some deep breath and counting numerals from one to 10.
Mrs Samantha Wuta-Ofei, the Marketing Services Manager at Nestlé Ghana said as a leading health and nutrition Company, it was their mandate to contribute towards healthier lifestyle by enhancing the quality of life.
She noted that the passion of the company to inspire listeners and consumers of the products to live a healthier lifestyle, adding that, although they gave information on air, they also wanted to engage them and express their appreciation.
Mrs Wuta-Ofei said the occasion served as an opportunity to hear from the consumers on how the company could help to empower them in giving them the right information that could be used to make the right choices in terms of nutrition, health and wellness.
As part of the day’s event, participants of the programme were taken through activities like aerobics, treasure hunts, sack race, and lime on a spoon race. Winners were awarded with products from Nestlé Ghana.
