Oduom (Ash) Feb.15, GNA – Mrs. Charity Darko, Public Relations Manager of the Northern Business Sector of MTN-Ghana, has called on Ghanaians, especially the youth, to show keen interest in blood donation, to help save lives.
She said the human blood, for its critical importance in saving lives, was the only most precious gift one could give to those in need.
“This called for the need for people to come out in their numbers to freely and willingly donate blood whenever such events are organised in their communities to help prolong the lives of others who may need it at such challenging moments in their lives”, she added.
Mrs Darko made the call through the Ghana News Agency at Oduom in the Oforikrom Municipality, when MTN together with the Blood Bank Unit of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi, organised a blood donation exercise at the St. Louis Senior High School, to mark this year’s Valentine’s Day celebration.
“One way people can show true love to others in need is to share their lives with such needy people”, she added.
The Public relations manager indicated that the Company had dedicated every Valentine Day to the organisation of blood donation exercises throughout the Country, to boost the stocks at the blood banks of all health facilities.
She expressed the Company's appreciation to the authorities of the KATH and all the regional health authorities in the three regions of the North and the Brong Ahafo region, for partnering MTN in its life-saving endeavour.
Mrs Darko disclosed that about 1,398 people in the three regions of the North donated blood during the exercise, while Ashanti and Brong Ahafo Regions recorded 1,388 donors.
She commended the donors for their sacrifice.
