Agona-Nkwanta (W/R), Jan. 29, GNA - The Ahanta West Area Development Programme of World Vision on Friday presented educational materials estimated at GHc340,802 to 48 basic schools in the area to enhance teaching and learning.
The materials included tables and chairs for teachers and pupils, cupboards and computers.
Mr. Jones Amoah, Ahanta West District Chief Executive (DCE), who presented the items to the schools commended the World Vision for complementing government\'s efforts.
He said as no country could develop without good education, and urged School Management Committees and Parent-Teacher Associations of the beneficiary schools to ensure that the items were properly maintained to sustain education delivery.
Mr. Amoah said the District Assembly was doing its best to uplift the standard of education in the area and that about 70 per cent of the Assembly\'s budget was committed to education.
Miss Theresa Esi Davis, Programme Officer of World Vision, said the presentation formed part of the organization\'s Micro Grant Project for the Ahanta West District.
He said some schools used part of their share of the grant for the construction of urinals and the rehabilitation of their buildings.
Miss Davis said there would be a follow up exercise to ensure that the project was impacting positively on the beneficiary schools.GNA
