Tema, June 8, GNA - It was all joy and celebrations at some Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) centres in the Tema Metropolis as candidates complete their final paper on Friday.
Some of the candidates who could not withhold their joy screamed in excitement, hugged each other and danced as the final bell was rang to bring down the curtains on the examination which commenced on Monday with English Language.
Others also wrote farewell messages on their friends’ uniforms to be kept as souvenirs such as, “This is not goodbye, my darling, this is thank you” and “I will miss you”
At the St. Paul Anglican School centre, some of the teachers of the candidates were seen hugging and congratulating them as they came out of the examination halls after writing the Social Studies paper.
Some of the JHS graduates told Ghana News Agency that they were happy to have finished writing the BECE without any problems.
“It feels normal, it’s just a transitional stage and am very happy am done with BECE” Master Nyamekye, a student from Santa Babra School stated.
According to him, the amount of work he put into the examination had paid off as he was able to answer all questions without struggle.
Miss Linda Darko, Headmistress, Santa Babra School, said, “I feel very relieved, because it hasn’t been easy, teaching everything and not knowing what will come”.
According to her, during the preparation stages, about two or three of her students who had problems with some of the subject finally grasped the concepts before the examinations.
Some students from the Oninku JHS also expressed their delight at completing their basic education as they look forward to the Senior High School final examination.
According to some of the teachers who were present at the centre, the fact that there was no examination leakage excited them so much.
