Accra , Nov 05, GNA -The Interact Club of Accra Senior High School, a student chapter of Rotary Club Ghana, has donated educational items worth GHc600 to pupils of Kanda Estate ‘1 and 4’ Primary School in Accra.
The items include school bags, student files, exercise books, pens, pencils, erasers, sharpeners and chalk.
Presenting the items, Ms Mary Owusua Fei, President of Interact Club, said the donation was to encourage pupils in the school to take their education serious.
She said the donation formed part of the Club’s social responsibility to motivate the younger ones to realise their full potentials to mark this year’s Interact Club celebration week.
The ceremony witnessed members of the Club interacting with the pupils by sharing jokes and counseling them.
Ms Fei asked parents to pay special attention to their children’s education, since it was the best legacy they could bequeath to them.
She called on teachers and parents to instill moral values in their child.
Madam Dorothy Appiah, Headmistress of the School commended the Club for their effort and promised to make sure the items were used for the intended purpose.
She said the donation had come at a time when the pupils were in dire need of educational materials to boost their morale in learning.
She advised parents to take advantage of the Capitation Grant and the School Feeding Programme to enroll their children of school-age in school.
