Tarkwa, July 9, GNA -The Women Ministry of the Assemblies of God Church, Tarkwa District, has donated assorted cleaning items worth about 1,200 Ghana cedis to the Environmental Unit of the Tarkwa Government Hospital.

The items included scrubbing brushes, detergents and toilet rolls.

The members used the opportunity to clean a six seater water closet toilet facility which was constructed by the Women Ministry of the church for the Environmental Unit in 2006.

Making the donation, Mrs. Rosina Meriku, leader of the Women Ministry, said the church had over the years supported the development efforts of the hospital.

She said the gesture was part of the churches social responsibility programme to help bring quick relief to the authorities of the environmental department of the hospital.

Mrs Meriku said it is necessary for the church to bring smiles on the faces of the hospital authorities to help alleviate their suffering.

She called on Ghanaians to contribute towards every hospital within their locality in order to mitigate any challenge the hospitals faced.

Mr Joseph Tetteh, Environmental Head of the Tarkwa Government Hospital, on behalf of management, commended the church for the gesture and urged other public-spirited individuals and organizations to emulate this example.

He expressed optimism that the donation would go a long way to improve sanitation problems in the department.
