Takoradi, July 13, GNA – Dr Frank Bonsu, Programme Manager of the National Tuberclosis Programme, has called on managers of the TB fund at the regional and district levels not to mismanage the funds allocated to them.

He said mismanaging the funds was tantamount to serving a jail sentence as Global Fund, financiers of the TB programme were bent on getting results.

Dr Bonsu said this when he interacted with health professionals from the Western Region on scaling up activities regarding TB in order to achieve efficiency at Takoradi.

He said the scaling up of the TB programme was in line with improving service delivery towards the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals.

He said the national office was prepared to assist both regional and district health facilities with the needed logistics to work and encouraged them to do their best.

Dr Bonsu said despite the gains made in TB control, the death rate was still high and called on doctors to follow-up on cases to ensure effective diagnosis and treatment.
