Grand-Lahou, Sept 11, (GNA/AIP) - A boat carrying
15 fishermen has capsized in the mouth of Lahou Kpanda, 24 kilometers from
Grand-Lahou (South, Great Bridges region) causing a missing.
According to the president of fishermen, Akadje Alphonse, Sunday, at 1900 hours, three boats returned to Lahou Kpanda after several days spent on the high seas. Two of them managed to cross the mouth with difficulty.
The third boat struck the sand strip into the sea, discharging the 15 occupants into the sea. Fourteen fishermen managed to swim back to the shore and the fifteenth passenger was reported missing.
"This is the first time we have crossed the mouth of Lahou Kpanda. We came from Sassandra and we do not control this passage. We made sacrifices to find our comrade. Koffi Ashampon, a regular at the mouth of the mouth has told us that at this place, it is very risky to use the lifejackets because you can float on the water and the risk of being hit by the boat are high, "says Ekwessi Kwame, one of the rescued fishermen.
